1. JAPAN

Before I came to Japan, I have an image of Japan by its rapidly technology development such as the accessibility for the disabled people in daily life. But, when I was in Japan, I have made observation by myself by going out to some places through transportation such as Bus, Train, Subway, it turned out that there are still some places which could not be accessed by disabled people themselves. There are lot of barrier that preventing us on keeping walk or to reach to the destination we want to go.

On the other hand, I have an unforgettable memory and experience, when I was going to one of my friend’s home or somewhere, by any chance the station where I was in, there was no lift or escalator enabled me to reach the train or subway, then I was at loss that time, I don’t know what must I do what else I was not able to speak Japanese very well, then I just waited and waited in the front of ladders. Suddenly there was a man who kindly asking me whether I needed some helps to pass the ladder or not? Then I said Yes I need Help. Then there 3 or 4 staffs came approached me quickly to lift me out the ladders, this experience was really making me felt touched, I was so impressed by their kindly attention. So, I concluded that most of Japanese people have a nice personalities and hospitality. They always help me when I am really need a help that I could not do by myself.

2. Independently Living In Japan

During my individual training which focusing on IL program in Nagoya, Hachioji, and Nishinomiya from December, I am most surprised at watching that disabled people in Japan are actively participating in society and leading independent living. For example: the use of well developed technology tools and ready to access really encourage the active participation and independently living for the disabled people. I am thinking that n Japan all disabled people are lucky doing their activities because technology really supports them for living more independently.

There is a big difference between Japan and Thailand especially about The INDEPENDENTLY LIVING’s services while in Japan it only gives a service for wheelchair people, cerebral palasy people, in the other hand in Thailand, Independently living center activity is including Wheelchair people, Deaf People, Blind People and others.

During I studied the issue of Independently living in Japan, I found it most precious that independently living did not mean that we can do all in our daily life, but how we can decide some problems, on How we can manage all the things by our minds.

3. SPORT

I also studied sports for wheelchair users/physically disabled people in Kyoto and Yokohama, such as fencing, golf, tennis and basketball. I have found that the disabled persons are being capable of doing in various sports fields without any problems because they can be suited for sports fields in other way. Otherwise, I can make friends with them in the sport center in both Kyoto and Yokohama.

4. COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY

In Japan, I studied some computer programs during my individual training for example: how to make Home Page in both English and Japanese and software that enable disabled people to access some information through computer technology. It has broaden my knowledge about Computer Technology in Japan.

5. IN THE FUTURE

As we may already know that disabled people in Asia Pacific do not have the same opportunity in education, jobs, or daily life. Or they are not able to integrate themselves into mainstream of society for full participation and equality on all aspect of human endeavor. The main causal factor of it is they are lack of complete and valuable information, are not able to access all information. So, I would like to focus on ‘ small network’ that easy being accessed by disabled people in Asia Pacific, for example providing completed and valuable information related on DISABILITY ISSUES through information technology. Firstly, I start it with the 2nd Duskin trainees to share some information to make my program come true.

First of all, I would like to thank to DUSKIN, AINOWA that gave me opportunity to have training in Japan for one year, JSRPD who all staffs always helped me and others people who make my trainings run well. Especially to all Duskin trainees, Thank’s for sharing time and experiences with me for one year!
