  Yokohama Ostomy Association is a chapter of The Japan Ostomy Association, Inc. (JOA) and is a Volunteer-based health organization dedicated to providing education,information and support for people who have had or will have intestinal or urinary diversions.
  This Home page are open to all ostomates and people suffering from similar problems, their families, government agencies, and health care professionals in Yokohama City.
  We wish to inform you of our activities provide helpful information to ostomates with the hope of achieving appropriate support from the community.

NEWS!!

JOA-MOA Twinning Programme JOA friendship tour group visited Mongolia from 13th to 20th July, 2009, and agreed with Mongolian Ostomy Association to further develop joint project. The group was consisted of 13 Japanese ostomates, their two spouses, Prof. Shindo and Ms. Fukai, a leading ET/WOC nurse. They were warmly welcomed by the MOA Executive members, President Mr. Tsogt,Vice-President Dr. Enkhamgalan, and by many Mongolian ostomates. Prof. Shindo and Ms. Fukai gave lectures on medical and care issues to Mongolian nurses and doctors, and Prof.Takaishi, JOA Ex. Director and AOA President talked about the important role of patients group to achieve better QOL. Leaders of both association visited the office of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and asked their financial support for training of Mongolian nurses, a joint venture under the JOA-MOA Twinning Programme with professional help by medical experts of both countries. They visited the Ministry of Health of Mongolia as well and met the Director of Department of Medical Care Policy Implementation and Coordination. He understood necessity of nurse training and agreed to support our project.

The 5th Asian Ostomy Association (AOA) Conference Held at Bangkok,Thailand on Nov 13-16th, 2005 The 5th AOA Coference and The 8th House of Delegates Meeting was held at First Hotel at Bnagkok City in Thailand on November 13-16th, 2005. 130 Ostomates, 32 Observer, 102 nurses/E.T.nurses joined in this conference, and President, Mrs.Dielwen Bracken and 5 Excecutives from IOA attended.

The Activities of Yokohama City Ostomy Association   The chapter, Yokohama Ostomy Assoc., has many various meetings at Yokohama City. Dates and times are announced in our newsletter, YOKOHAMA DAYORI (Japanease only) and this homepage.   At these meetings, ostomates may benefit greatly from freely exchanging knowledge and ideas with other members, hearing about the latest in ostomy surgery and management from authorities who speak to our meetings, and taking part in occasional social gatherings with entertainment and refreshments.
